Wendy Sword is an Associate Professor and Assistant Dean (Research) in the School of Nursing, McMaster University www.fhs.mcmaster.ca/nursing/faculty_sword.shtml and a Principal with the Ontario Training Centre in Health Services and Policy Research http://fhs.mcmaster.ca/otc-hsr/index.htm. Her program of research focuses on perinatal health and health services, with a particular interest in populations at risk for poor outcomes and service accessibility. Wendy was involved in the evaluation of "New Choices", an integrated program for women with substance use issues and their young children in Hamilton, Ontario. In addition to acting as co-Principal Investigator of Connections research, Wendy is leading multi-site studies to (1) examine method of delivery and health outcomes, service use, and costs of care in the first year following delivery and (2) develop and test an instrument to measure quality of prenatal care.
